Aid Plea for Filipino Flood Victims

Irish Freemasons are planning to send a container of used clothing, blankets, bed linens, towels and even toys to Mindanao by sea.

The initial cost for shipping is £1,500, and the shipment to the Philippines would take 36 days, so our endeavours would fall under the long term relief assistance, which we can channel through the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the Philippines for distribution.

Brethren can put it in a black bag and if permitted, drop it off in their respective lodges or Masonic centres that will serve as a pick up point.

The death toll from the latest flash floods that ravaged the southern Philippines has reached 652 as aid agencies spoke of an urgent need for food, water clothing and shelter for survivors.
Hundreds of people remain unaccounted for in the wake of a tropical storm which made landfall at night and devastated swathes of communities.
Disaster struck southern cities such as Iligan and Cagayan de Oro on Mindanao Island which had 12 hours of sustained rainfall, causing landslides, rivers to burst their banks and sending walls of water crashing down mountain slopes into homes.
The Filipino people, who have given so much to the UK and Ireland, in our health service and in other places, are anxiously awaiting news after yet another typhoon brought flooding death and destruction to their loved ones at home.

Brethren we have roofs over our heads and shelter, please give your support in any way you can, to our Filipino Brothers in their time of need.

Thank you for your help, which is greatly appreciated by families, friends, and Brothers in the Philippines
